Heartland vs. Keystone 5th wheels

I have an '06 Cougar 290EFS. Excellent 5th wheel. Quality and build of the trailer is great, no problems. I would heartily recommend a Cougar, best trailer I ever had.

Nobody has better service from the factory than Heartland. Easy to contact someone all the way up to the brand manager and beyond if necessary. They have one of the best best owners' clubs and forums there is. The Heartland products just keep getting better every year. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Well said and has been my experience with Heartland from day one. Heartland backs up all the warranties and allows you to use Heartland RV service centers and/or any other qualified Service center or mobile technician. I have the Heartland 3070 RL 34 ft. I use the Reese 18K 5th wheel hitch with the single claw. Easy to load/unload and tows like a dream:):)

my keystone everest 305T literally fell apart to the point that Keystone took it back after a year and a half.

We have a 2006 Keystone Montana. Have had an unusual amount of major problems. Will not buy again.

Keystone in sig, no problems thus far. We did eternabond roof seams early on and have had no leaks. Didn't think they were in the same class... thought Heartland was a higher level unit..

Five year old Keystone Cougar. Very poor workmanship, quality, and durability. It's been a money pit.
It spent the first three months in the shop for significant repairs. Then, I've had at least one substantial system failure every year since. We were only using it about two weeks per year.

We purchased a new 2014 Bighorn in April. In May we had a problem with the 120V side of the H2O heater. Dealer came to our home once to diagnosis the issue and a second time to repair the problem. Our dealer and Heartland have been wonderful to work with, even after the sale.

As mentioned, the Heartland forum is full of experienced and informative owners. We are very pleased with our 5er and would be surprised to receive the quality of service that Heartland has provided from another manufacturer.

I had a 2007 Keystone Laredo and the roof had rotted after 15 months. Keystone said it was out of warranty and I had to pay for the repairs (and rightfully so even though I don't think the roof started leaking as soon as the warranty expired). My 2010 Heartland Eagle Ridge developed a pin box flex problem 3 years out of warranty and Heartland paid for all of the repairs. I should not have had either problem, but one company did step up. I don't know if this helps, but it is my experience with Heartland and Keystone.

We bought a Big Country this past August after trading in a Winnie Raven that was a nightmare. LOVE the BC and have no issues. In fact it took about 4 trips before we stopped holding our breath. :) Good Luck in your decision.

Owned a Heartland Northtrail prior to current Evergreen. True...the co is very responsive to customer needs...yes, even after the sale! The owner's club/forum is great. You can join & read tons of info prior to purchase. Totally agree, Heartland is a great company. You will be proud to own one. Really like the Greystone 5ers!!
