Help figuring out DOT tire code

I was looking at the spare tire for my enclosed trailer and can't figure out the date of manufacture. The side wall code says DOT 1PP CXKRCF. How do I figure out those letters for mfg date? If it helps, it is 15" load range E. Thanks for any help in advance.
  • I found the date code on the inside of the tire. Didn't know they only stamped one side. I learn something new everyday. Thanks guys for the informative replies.

Thanks everyone. I'll look on the inside of the tire. BurbMan, they sure don't make it easy to read the numbers:(

Just a guess, but bet if the numbers that had to be changed all the time some tires would not match side to side. And it would be harder to keep the replaceable parts in mold.
When you get new tires mounted make sure the date is on the outside when mounted.
  • No, they don't. The other side of the tire has the same DOT code but no stamp.

Interesting, these tires were made in the 3rd week of Sept, our trailer was built in Oct that year, and we took delivery right after Thanksgiving.

  • Looks like this, and as was noted, will only be on one side of the tire. My luck, it's always on the inside...

This tire was made in the 38th week of 2007.

  • Look for that oval outline like on Old Biscuit's pic. That's the mark left by the insert in the tire mold where they change the date code.

Thanks Old Biscuit, but there are no numbers next to the DOT code, just letters.

Did you look on the opposite side?

This is your answer OP. They only have to stamp it on one side.
