RobertRyan- Thanks. i'll look to see if we have anything similar to those. I did bring up getting a semi-tractor but that was immediately shot down. lol
valhalla360- Oh, she will drive the **** out of the truck. The first test drive of a F250 w/6.0PSD got her hooked. As soon as the trailer is attached though.. I think will be a different story. lol
And....
we looked at both trucks yesterday.
2006 Ford F350 SD Lariat DRW $15995 6.0PSD 5spdauto 150Kmiles - LINK
2004 Chevy Silverado 3500 LT DRW $15992 6.6Dmax 5spdauto 240Kmiles - LINK
The ford was in mint condition compared to the Chevy. Both felt strong during the test drive and sounded smooth.
The chevy had the usual rust just starting on the rockers and inside bottom edge of doors. There was also some rusting in the bed where the 5th wheel hitch was mounted. The bed looked like surface only and the wife and I discussed getting the truck a spray in bed liner. Undercarriage was surprisingly clean. minimal rust. Also, asking that the dealer do it. The chevy also had airbag helpers.. making me they they must of had a pretty hefty load. Interior showed signs of wear (11yrs old) but no major flaws like tears or burns found. Plenty of leg room in the rear for me which means enough for the kids. They do offer a 12/12000 warranty on the drive/powertrain for a couple thousand.
The ford had the typical rust inside the bottom of the doors. It looks like someone tried to seal it or just painted over it. Undercarriage was a little rustier than the chevy but still clean for the year IMO. Since it didn't have the one piece box, there was touch-up paint all the way around the dually fenders. Not really noticeable unless you are looking for it though. Interior was clean and looked almost new. With ford.. there was a ton of room in the rear for legs. Overall, this would have probably been an on the spot purchase if it weren't for the 6.0PSD w/no warranty through the dealer (very small local dealer). Something we took the night to discuss and sleep on.
...Which lead me to below.
Here's my pros/cons list. :)
