Except the built in (required) safety features in propane system would shut it down before that happened.
Know your system and then stupid decisions can be avoided ---it called an informed decision based on knowledge
Given the built in safety features (excess flow pigtail and excess flow tank valve) are on the high pressure side, they could possibly activate and stop a regulator failure, and then they might not. They are designed for hose and connection failure for the most part. Besides that was just one scenario that could lead the owner or even the Fire Dept to want to shut off the tanks.
But clearly you are confident that the doors can be locked without consequence so you really should inform NFPA you want to be on the chair for that committee because you know so much more that those guys, and you can try to eliminate all of those "silly" requirements that burden us all so heavily.
My best advise to the OP is to screen out the reckless advice given on the forum and just stick with the code.
30 yrs operating high pressure boilers....oil fired, natural gas, distillate etc and I have been on several safety committees & regulatory boards ===NFPA, ASME, Stationary Engineers Licensing Board, High Pressure Boilers Licensing etc.
Not just a pretty face but actual career experience, information and knowledge.
Whether one locks their RV propane Compartment is their choice.
Information is a good thing in making that choice, better than making it on assumptions, fear or what if's.
Again.....ones own personal choice
