Hitch Decision

I've been running the 21K Hijacker autoslide for just over a year now. I cant comment on the pullrite version, but the Demco has worked well for me. If you are running a mor/ryde pinbox, then you need the capture plate for the demco, but otherwise for a standard pinbox no capture plate is needed. I believe for pullrite you need a capture plate regardless of the pinbox used? I also believe the demco can be had for less $$$ online as well.

I have no experience with the Anderson, other than to say, you have to install an adapter on the pinbox to use the Anderson. Not a biggie, but I lump it into the same category as a capture plate for the pullrite and demco (in certain cases). Normally not a big deal, unless you need someone else to tow your 5th somewhere, you have to remove some "stuff". And, before anyone chastises me, its just a "consideration". Not saying its bad or good.

I just bought the Hijacker 18k and will have it installed hopefully tonight and my first pull will be Wednesday. It looks very well built and it is heavy!! I did purchase the capture plates for my Trailair pin box and will report back after my first trip.

I have the Andersen gooseneck mount. It's my first FW hitch, so consider my response based on that.

I chose the Andersen because:

1. I already have and use a B&W Turnover Gooseneck Hitch
2. I routinely use the bed of my truck for general hauling so I need a flat floor.
3. I liked the light weight
4. Though you'll find critics online, you seldom find someone who owns or has owned one complaining about them.

What I've found is that is amazingly easy to hitch and unhitch, tows nicely and is very convenient going in and out of the bed. I can turn 90 degrees in my short bed Ford. I simply can't come up with a reason to even consider another hitch.

Andersen, Andersen, Andersen. I have towed several years with a conventional manual sliding hitch that I never used the slider . Switched to the Andersen this year, wish I would have got it when I first knew about them.

I went with standard rail version, I already had the picture frame adapter that I bought for my conventional hitch. I have the fifth wheel prep on my 2014 Ram 3500.

You will most likely hear the critics on the Andersen, unfortunately none of them have owned one, the one we have heard from here with an issue ,obviously had a very cheaply made pin box, that got deformed.

After several hundred miles with the Andersen, I'll NEVER go back to those heavy conventional hitches ,manual sliders or automatic. Friend owns the SuperGlide, and was always fighting the hitching ,and unhitching when at an angle, something to do with the capture plate. He too has went with the Andersen,he is very happy with the performance.

I know where you can get a Superglide automatic slider, or a Reese signature series manual slider hitch VERY CHEAP. :B

I have the Demco Autoslide 18K. I really like it. Its American made, and I leave it the bed of my truck over the winter for the additional weight.

another happy Andersen Ultimate user here ... like noted above, I already had the gooseneck ball, and wanted a flat floor in the truck when the hitch is out/turned over.

The 38# hitch weight is a bonus.

14 years of no hitch worries with my American made 16K Pullrite Superglide..

Wouldn't think of using anything else.

You seem to be correct on the Superglide. We have a local classifieds on the internet ,similar to Craig's list, multiple listing for the Superglide weekly, it appears they either don't need them or they are getting smart ,and going to the Andersen :B

I'm sure the new player in the AutoSlide has to be the B&W , you wouldn't promote anything else regardless whether it was good or bad. :)
