But,
When you are at a CG that charges extra for electric and it's metered AND they charge an arm and a leg for electric?
I just plumb refuse to 'throw' money away at an overzealous electric charging CG.
And why heat up water only to let it get cold and then heat it up again over and over and over again all day for nothing?
I simply flip the switch on before I shower and then shut it off. IMHO even more important when on propane. Wastes propane and I can't stand the smell of the exhaust and I'm guessing my CG neighbors don't like to smell the exhaust either. :W - downtheroadExplorerI have learned that not much about RVing is about saving money.
Heck, We paid a ton for these rigs and a ton more for something to pull them. If we wanted to rough it and save money I'd go back to tent camping and not have to think about a water heater.
We relax. We leave ours on all the time when we are camping and don't even think about the extra pennies. - jfkmkExplorerWhy heat hot water? Just kidding, it probably doesn't matter
- 2oldmanExplorer IIIf one is cheaper, I doubt it's anything you're going to save much money on.

WHO is paying for the electric :H
Personally I don't really care..........it costs pennies and when I want HOT water I don't want to have to plan ahead.
Water heater, just like fridge is ON
IF it's hot weather A/C is ON and if it's cold weather furnace is ON.
Just like home.
If someone else was paying for the electric I would not care. - edbehnkeExplorerassuming that you aren't paying for electric while rving it doesn't matter.
but generally if you pay for it just turn it on 15-30 minutes before you need to use it and then turn it off....it stays warm/hot for hours.
