Hot water heater
Made a mistake today, turned on hot water heater with no water in it. Now it’s not working. Help please.

Is it possible for the electric portion of the water heater to work and not the gas part. Seems to be working now. I did turn the switch on that is on the outside. I’m not hearing the gas part kick on.
Will changing the element fix this?
