Hotwater Tank

So it's never worked.

There's got to be another switch or plug somewhere.
Is there a plug in the outside compartment that looks like a regular house plug?

Is it an Atwood or a Suburban?

You need to check for 120v at each component in the circuit before anyone of us can help, otherwise everyone responding is just guessing.

You said there is power going through the breaker, great. Now check to see if there is power through the switch in the kitchen. If so, move down the line, is there power going through the outside switch at the WH? If so, check if there is power going through the heating element.

After you have checked everything let us know what you find out. We'll be able to help a lot better after everything is checked out.

I had a similar problem, checked everything through the complete circuit and found the outside switch was not working. I replaced the switch and we then had hot water using 120v.

PS that is what is like there is a switch turned off some were, the switch in the kitchen for the hot water and the pump is turned on the black switch on the tank is turned on, there may be another one somewhere but I can't find it.

The trailer I have is a 30 amp, we used the air conditioner and the microwave this summer, but we niver could get the hot water tank to come on, I push the two black buttons that is on the back of the tank to reset them, I thought even if the element was burned out I would still get power on the two wires coming off of the element, could it be posable that the senson or what ever it is on the thank could be gone, I just don't know, thanks for all the help I'm stuck on this one for sure.

Is the trailer plugged into AC?
Is the Trailer wired for 30 amp or 50 amp service?
Is the water heater the fast turn around type?

The dual heat types have two switches that can be switched on.
One for gas one for electric then both for fast warm-up.

See if the air conditioner and the microwave come alive at the same time when your trailer is plugged in.

I'm just guessing here:
I'm thinking the micro and the water heater are on the same wiring loop.
50 amp trailers have two circuits running inside.
See if there's any other AC powered item not working i.e; the convertor for instance.

There might be an AC switch in the kitchen area that needs to be turned on. Chris

Even if the element was burned out I think he would have power to the wires connected to it. You can check for continuity of the element without removing it if you have a volt meter.(check across the two screws) Maybe the hi-temp (electric side) thermostat has popped. Try pushing on the buttons under the black cover to reset them. Otherwise do as suggested above and trace from the circuit breaker to the rocker switch, to the element for power.

The element may be burned out.

You need water in the tank before turning on the electric element, or it pops instantly. I would start by pulling the element out and checking it.

I check the power coming out of braker the power is working fine there.
