How do you carry your bicycles?

I just packed up today to go back to,Pueblo. I removed the peddles on the bikes, loosened the necks to turn the handlebars sideways and I got them in our 5er basement... Along with a 5' tall oak cabinet the wife had to have. It took me 4 hours to get it all in! Craig

Thanks for the link. My brother welds for a living. I think it will take him only a couple of hours to make one.

I have an island in the kitchen thus the only place I could store a bike inside would be on the bed. I don't like that idea.

I have some very nice bikes and when I ride it is for many miles. I don't think I would enjoy a fold up bike.

I cannot add a hitch to the back of the fifth wheel per dealer. They said it would negate my warranty.

I don't like the idea of carrying them on the ladder or adding a hitch in the front. I did that one time and and it put the bikes so far in the air that they impeded my view.

I don't think you will find one pre-made. I got my steel angle from a store build, that it was excess, YES TSA opened my suitcase and took out everything above the steel as it was in the very bottom of the suitcase, but let it fly! The job site was in Detroit, I lived in Portland.
I simply leveled the 5er, placed the angle on the pin box, and drew a level line at the height of the receiver tube and it just hit the front top corner.

I had an grinder/cutter so cut myself, but fabricator could likely do it for you. Mine welded it up and punched the four 1/2" mountion holes in the steel (BIG time saver!) charged me $30, I gave him $40 as he got it done same day I dropped it off.

Our bikes are also high end, and once wrapped in a cheap moving blanket...they are safe and out of sight in the rv and the blanket keeps any grease/dirt contained. Wash once per season and good to go. Just removing pedals with a 15mm wrench makes them sit quite flat on the bed.

What I’m trying to set up now is a Yakima rack on the roof of the truck. I bought the 78” bars to carry our kayaks on. If this works out I plan on getting some bike carriers to mount on the truck roof beside the boats.

We have a pair of these. Awhile we carried them folded & inside the truck. Great to have them out of the weather but a bit of a nuisance inside the truck. Lately we have been carrying them unfolded & inside the trailer leaning against the sofa so that they do not bounce around. Decent bikes for what they are & minimal transport hassles.

2 bikes ride in the back seat of our Ram, and if we bring a third I pull the front tire and it goes onto our queen bed on top of a sheet of poly. Im a former bike mechanic so I dont mind pulling wheels or pedals to bring them along. Once we arrive at our site they get assembled, locked and covered.
