- Y-GuyModeratorHonestly for us we didn't use the patio, and at that time I had made the setup since it wasn't factory. I used it on two trips, when we camped near a river and our first trip out with it. Reality was that we spent most of the time by the campfire and not inside. If I were to buy another toy hauler I'm not sure it's a feature that would drive me to buy the unit, I wouldn't pay much extra for it that's for sure. But that is just how WE camp, you need to decide what's best for YOU.
- colliehaulerExplorer IIII have owned 3 toyhaulers and never used the rear ramp as a deck. Very seldom do I ever use the awning either. Usually out during the day riding, boating, dog walks, exploring. Of a evening if I sit out is usually cooking or by a campfire for socializing.
- FunnyCamperExplorer IInever use. Kid uses back bunk and couches have kid junk on them etc back there so not worth bothering, plus we use our awning as our 'outdoor room' and leave the hauler door closed.
- RUFFSTUFFExplorerAlmost always never.
- MartyMooseExplorerThe patio with the 3 season doors is one of the reasons I would still have a toy hauler when/if I don't need the hauling need.
The back room is much nicer to hang in as it's so much brighter with the back door down.
We use ours whenever possible picking sites that have nice rear views. We don't use ours when the patio is out in the open like on a short pull thru site as you feel like you are on display...ha - StraboExplorerWe camp in winter so it's just too cold for that kind of setup. And I have to take it down when we leave, and I hate packing up.
- 2001400exExplorerI don't have one and there's not one time I would have wanted one in my 8 years of owning a toy hauler. I generally just sit in lawn chairs outside. The only time I'd want one is if I camped right on the sand, which I don't. Also, if I had dogs,I could see letting them chill in the patio. I'd also want stairs because that's the main complaint from the friends I know that have one. I've yet to see them use it while camping with them other than to just try it out.
I joke that I think manufacturers add these to sell rigs and not really to use them. That being said, obviously some people use them, which is great. I just don't think they get much use overall. - Sprinks542ExplorerHave the rear patio on ours. If we're at a campground we usually try for a pull-thru site. Never a problem with site space. It's nice for us, dogs have some more room and little more shade if the suns hitting the side. we have seasonal doors separating patio from garage and a glass weather man door separating garage from living quarters. Enjoy ours when camping!
- Carlos___RanaeExplorerOur Seismic 4212 has the side and rear patio. The rear patio has a slide door that separates it from the garage and a side door into the garage.
We took a three month trip (17) states and Canada and were able to open both patios at all campgrounds we stayed at. We are very happy with this toyhauler. - 1Adam12ExplorerWe use ours year around in Fl. If the patio is down (takes one person less than 5 minutes) we leave it down. We have the seasonal doors as well and they keep it dry and or cool/warm depending on the conditions. Not sure why you would close the patio every night unless you have young kids. We have two kids and we use the patio regularly. The bunks are in the up position until it's time to sleep.
