Installing a patio/screen to toyhauler

We presently own a 2010 Raptor LEV 361 without the patio package. Rather than trading in our Raptor, which we like very much, for a new Hauler, like the Cyclone, I would like to install a awning, the cables and the railings.

I am not too mechanically incline, but will like to give it a try. If it doesn't work, I can always bring it to the professionals.

Question is, is there a vendor that can supply all the pieces or do I need to use different vendors. A price range will be appreciated. Web sites to look at will really help.

  • It can be done. I don't think you will find a vendor to provide you with a kit.

I added a ramp support to my Work and Play 30WR. I have not come up with a railing yet but I don't think that will be difficult. Removable frames with nylon netting comes to mind. As far as the awning goes. I don't have enough room for a automatic awning like what you would see on the back of a truck camper so I was going to go with a self supporting 8x8 canopy or a ramp add a room.

The Work and Play 30 WR has a 5000 lb rated ramp one of the heaviest in the industry, plus the steel door frame is welded into the frame of the trailer and is very strong. Keep in mind that trailer construction is different and will vary.

Here is a link and some back and fourth discussion.

  • Yep if its built anything like the door on our cyclone it won't hold up. I've seen whats inside it (the door structure) and cables would not hold long! We had a screen room enclosure for our R-vision and loved it! but that was built substainablly better.
  • It's your call but Lippert says the ramp they use with the patio system is not built the same as the non-patio ramp. They beefed up the ramp with an additional sheet of metal between the non-skid and the plywood.
  • I agree with the poster above and will move this to the Toy Hauler forum. Good luck with your project! :)

  • My Weekend Warrior came with a room that goes on the ramp. It came complete with jackstands for the ramp. We put it on one time in the driveway and decided it was way too much work.

If this thread is moved to the toy hauler section it will get a lot more advice. There a couple of companies selling kits for what you want.
  • The area where you connect the supporting cables needs to be strong enough to support the weight of the patio plus the additonal weight of people and anything else you place on it. This could be a significant amount of weight that the upper portion of your trailer may not be designed to handle. You might want to consider supporting the patio with something like a couple of auto jack stands.
