How to safely operate a B & W Patriot 16k 5th wheel hitch

I will be having a B & W Patriot 16k hitch installed later this week. I am replacing a R & W Lil Rocker 15k hitch. The Little Rocker uses a slide bar to secure the pin. I also have a Bed Saver install...

About 3 years ago I backed up into my companion, did a test pull and got out of the truck to be interrupted by a neighbor. Ended up towing about 60 miles when I discovered I had not pinned the jaws. After an almost heart attack, we finished that trip. B&W is the best on the market made totally in the USA.
