Ideas for reducing noise on fresh water pumps

Sometimes it's stuff I've crammed into a storage compartment they touches a water line or pushes the water line against something .

I agree with the noisy pex line theory. Sometimes our system is pretty quiet, other times big racket ...

maybe it's the hard water ?

The problem usually isn't the pump but is most likely water hammer in the PEX piping leaving the pump. What I have found to eliminate noise in my past few rigs is to move the lines at several locations about 1/2" with hand while pump is running until the noise reduces. I then take nylon zip ties and then use the zip tie to hold and secure the line (in the desired new noise reducing position) to the nearest stud or anything that you can wrap zip tie around. You may find that the PEX lines also hammer in other areas of the trailer, such as beneath sinks or in basement storage, etc.
This is one of the first mods I have made to my last few new rigs (where I had noise issues) and I have been able to eliminate most noises.

I put my pump on a piece of foam and the pipe kit helped too.

Most of your noise will come from hard improperly installed water lines.Foam swim aide tube slit to fit over under and around lines will help a lot.Flexible inlet and outlet water line kit will help too,don't over tighten motor screw attaching screws.Mount the pump on a small 3/8" board and mount that board to floor with a foam 1/2" doughnuts from the swim aide between it and the floor.Flexible lines are available at dealers.A variable demand pump,though more costly are much quieter then the standard type.
