Inked a deal on new 5er, now looking for a good hitch

We just committed to the purchase of a new Cougar 327 RES FW. We'll be pulling it with a 2012 Ram 2500 diesel 4X4 with a Crew Cab. Now, the next decision is the hitch. Looking at a Reese R16 sliding hitch.

We ordered the Cougar with a MOR/ryde pin box. I'm now thinking that we may not need that, given that the R16 has some road-dampening technology built into it.

My first question is...is there anyone out there who has the R16 without the MOR/ryde, and are you happy with it?

My second question is...should I go ahead with this hitch, cancel the MOR/ryde and see how it goes, with the option of adding the MOR/Ryde if necessary?
  • I have a non slider, but like the pull right brand after having one.
  • I am a beliver in the air cushion technology to soften the towing, but I went with the Hensley TS-3 hitch. Based on being able to take the hitch from truck to truck as I trade over the years, rather than geting a pin specific pin box.
eith way you go, enjoy the New toy!
  • Don't cancel the MorRyde! It is one of the best investments! I have a B&W Patriot that I used in a SB CC GMC some years ago. I started with a Reese Slider but the overall sloppiness of the sliders and head drove me nuts! I only used the slider once in two years. I have no idea about the new "updated" Reese R16.
