Internet Cable Connection

We are new to RVing and have a 2008 Cameo 37RE3. We have it setup semi-permanent at a RV Park. We signed up for Internet Service and plugged in the cable to the existing exterior connector. When we plug in the cable modem it does not connect to the network. I verified the outside cable and it works with the modem outside so that isn't the problem.
I have a cable-toner and when I put it on the connector feeding into RV I am not hearing anything.
There is an Antenna on the roof. I thought I could just connect there and hook up that way. I was wrong. Apparently there is some type of circuitry (antenna switcher) that prevented the modem from finding the network.
I am looking for ideas on what I should look for or alternative of getting a cable run into the RV.
  • Internet on coax? OP are you using coaxial or the telephone RJ 15 connector used for telephone?
  • Who is your service with? We also stay in a semi permanent site all summer and in talking to a lot of the regulars, they pay the $8/month insurance just to get a tech out to set up their cable reception every year.
  • Does the TV show video when connected to the cable? Do you have just one cable connection, or two? Have you checked to make sure the antenna booster isn't turned on?
  • Search on Amazon or other places for a flat coax cable. These are thin enough to run through a window.
  • Is the cable connection just for internet or also for cable tv? If for both does the tv work from cable? Since the cable modem works connected directly to the outside wire, consider running a separate line into the RV to support the modem.
