IF your 235/80's are fairly new, I'd put them on the trailer and get rid of even new ST tires. I'm running 265/75/16 Firestone Transforce on my 02 F350 SRW and while they are the same 3415 lb rating, the lower profile and wider tire will increase your stability over the 235's. I often pull a lot more than what you are looking at, BUT I can adjust my pin weight by were I put the load.
The warm up feature of the 7.3 turbo can be tricked into a fairly good exhaust brake... real easy with the manual tranny. If you have a auto then I would add an extra tranny oil cooler if it has not been bullet proofed.
