"Too noisy" Really?????
Seriously have you driven a 13 or newer RAM/Cummins towing a large RV?
My wife and I can carry on a normal conversation in our 15 Dually towing a combined 32K on 6% graders. If ya want any quitter just stay in the RV.
My oh my, aren't we testy ! As I stated earlier, it's just my humble opinion. No reason to get bent all out of shape over it. - larry_barnhartExplorerI didn't like the older Cummins because of the noise but I think it was 2003 model of dodge that was much quieter and less noise ever since so that story of too much noise is nonsense.

Where we live there is a Ram dually diesel 8 houses down from us & when he fires it up we hear it until it leaves. My Duramax doesn't wake up my next door neighbour. Just sayin, IMHO
Neither does a stock HPCR 5.9L or 6.7L Cummins like my 2011. Now, if you want loud, take a VP-44 injected 24 valve Cummins with bigger injectors, advanced timing, an open air filter and a 4" (or larger) straight piped exhaust, but that's NOT representative of current stock Cummins diesels.

So let me get this straight. The most important characteristic of a diesel engine, in your humble opinion, is that is sounds the most like an Otto-cycle (spark ignited) engine? :S Ummmm....okaaayyy - your money and your choice. :B
Let me put it this way. I used to have street rods running 2.5" exhaust & 2 chamber Flowmasters. To me they sounded awsome, to my neighbours not so much. Lots of people are getting out of the MDT/HDT market since these new Dually's have become so capable.
Honestly I would have never guessed the towing experience in all weather and general conditions could be so good!
I have a hard time believing how your dually can tow any different, then your previous dually. New one has more power, possibly bigger brakes, still I would imagine about the same weight truck trying to handle I assume a much heavier fifth wheel. Please if you would share with us the difference in towing experience .
My comment was based on my experience with my 2011 HO Dually being a much more stable platform than I expected it to be..
The new one has a better exhaust brake. It has more power and does out pull the 11 even tho the new RV weighs 3,200+# more than the last.
Thanks, I was just curious.
I am towing the same fifth wheel with my 2014 Ram 3500 Cummins as I was with my previous truck a 99 Superduty 350 with the 7.3. Other then the power, maybe a little better braking I don't see much difference between the two.
Don't get me wrong its a pleasure to tow with the power of Cummins compared to the powerstroke , but handling, and the flat highways they both seemed about the same. Naturally where the Cummins shines is in the mountains, going up or down.
