I have been riding for over 25 years and have loaded bikes on Trailers and also in the back of a 4x4 pickup truck. When using the Clutch as a "Back Brake" you will be (or should be) going very slow. If you are going fast enough to turn the engine over backwards you were going way too fast. When I know I am getting close to the bottom of the ramp I will let the speed pick up a little so you will roll off off of the ramp. If you do not roll all the way off of the ramp, you might have a hard time if you have shorter legs and can not put both feet down.
One time when loading my 1983 FXR Shovel Head into my Ford the F-150 4x4, I had the engine stall just as my front tire hit the bed. Trust me when I say it scared the S__t out of me but I was able to ride it down. I had no brakes because the front tire just slid down the ramp. I also could not put my feet down due to the angle of the ramp.
To those that say they back down leaning on your left leg while using your right leg on the back brake, all I can say is good luck. I have never had anyone suggest doing this. Now you might be a "Super" Rider and can do it but I do not think that it is safe for a "Regular" Rider to do. Take this as you want but I have been a "BIKER" for a long time and have seen a lot of Bike "Riders" get into trouble by doing something that is over their ability just because they saw some else do it once.
