Keeping a log

you people got me so nervous about my Mao Zedoung tires that I started keeping a mileage/pressure/temperature/inspection log.

After months of recording the same info and noticing no difference in the data I quit doing it.

Bride keeps a travel log. Where when what route and comments. For our trip out west this summer, we got each of the kids a journal to record what they want.
I keep a log for each vehicle. Fuel, miles each tankful, maintenance and modifications.

I just use an excel spreadsheet -- mileage, where the good gas spots were, CG and road quality. Simple stuff.
I know my friends say that what I log is definitely anal-retentive. But it's amazing how often I'm back at the same place -- "where was that nice campground?" -- "can I easily get to Point B from Point A tomorrow?"

I'll continue to keep my log.

I've kept a daily campers log since we started camping in our first popup in 1988.

Filled three "Camper Daily Log" binders and working on the fourth one.

All three went for a swim during hurricane Katrina. Surprisingly we let them dry out and they are still easy to read. The pages are a little wrinkeled but are hanging in there. It's great to be able to go back and read about our trips 24 years ago and see what we were doing on Easter '90.

I have kept a log/journal since my first truck camper in 1993. I briefly record each trip, where we stay each night, campground cost, any good/bad points about the campground etc. At the end of each trip I record the total mileage for the trip, not individual daily miles or fuel consumption. I also note service items like new tires, gas check etc.
I refer to it quite a lot, for such things as planning how many days to allow for travelling when I'm making reservations, but most of all for keeping a check on how many miles the 5th wheel has done, surprising how this mounts up.
Its interesting looking back over the years and comparing campground prices with todays prices!

I just write down which camp ground we went to,mileage up and back for maintenance and how many days there,that's about it.I have a very detailed maintenance log for the truck though,I write down if I wax it! But then again it's an '06 with 36,000 mi.and it's my baby...

The wife keeps a written log. MPG is written on the receipts at time of purchase and saved. I take pictures of the trailer in the campsite and imbed text as to where it is. We keep the campground receipts and brochures to help remind when and where. After the first week everything and everyplace becomes a blur, so some sort of recording is a good idea, especially if you are going to be in quite a few spots over an extended period of time.

We keep a simple log on a spreadsheet.

We don't get too detailed.

It is really nice, when we can't remember where we spent thanksgiving 2 years ago, you can pop back to that date and remember exactly.
