Our first 5th wheel was a Keystone Cougar 281 bunkhouse built in 2001 at the Pendleton, OR. factory. We had issues e.g. went through 5 tires in 2000 miles, had to have the suspension bushings replaced in two years, decals peeling off. That year units did not have shocks and the rigs came with Carlisle tires (aka China Bombs) unbalanced. I did travel too fast over highways with major pot holes. Those conditions destroy rigs that are assembled with light weight materials that are stapled together. We did have many wonderful years experiencing the travels and outdoors…….and luckily I could make my own repairs. In Keystones defense, I think construction techniques and material bonding processes may have improved.
