Keystone Fuzion 301

Well we put a deposit down on a 2014 Keystone Fuzion 301 today. We have a couple days to think about it before we complete the deal. We asked them to install 2 6 volt batteries rather than 2 12 volt batteries.

We are excited and nervous at the same time. We have always had 5th wheels so this will be a new experience for us. It's 6 feet shorter than our 5th wheel so I don't think towing it will be any more difficult. The salesman told me that a TT tracks much closer to the TV tracks than a 5th wheel does. Don't know if that's true but that's what he said.

From what I have read here and heard from people, with the proper hitch setup, towing the BP trailer shouldn't be much different than a 5th wheel.

I am open to any advice about this specific trailer, or the transition from a 5th wheel to a BP so please share away!
  • Congrats on your purchase .. or almost purchase anyways! These TH are very tongue heavy as I found out quickly. You might want to make sure that the receiver on your pickup is rated for the massive amount of weight it's going to carry. My class V receiver is rated at 1800lbs and I just went up to a Reese 1700/17000lb WD hitch setup to be safe.

Post some pictures when you can!
  • Get the best weight distribution hitch with sway control. You will notice a big difference between the 5er and the BP.
  • Having had both, I would not go back to a BP from a fith wheel. They tow worlds apart. Just my 2c
  • I plan to upgrade my stock hitch for sure. The Weight Distribution limit for tongue weight is only 1,500 lbs. The trailer's dry weight is 1,495 lbs. I plan to upgrade to a class V hitch.

What is a good weight distributing hitch to get for the trailer? I have heard Draw-Tite and Reese but don't know if there is any real difference other than name.

    Thoughts?
  • I'm running the Reese Titan 1700/17000. Couldn't be happier with it yet. I've never used the draw tight.
  • Congrat's on the new unit!! I always take comments like this with a grain of salt. :?

  • Well I did it! We are picking it up this weekend. I got the Reese Strait Line hitch. I will report how it tows after I have a chance to use it.
