Keystone Interior White Cabinet Vinyl Covers Peeling

I have a 2006 Keystone Outback Sydney 5th wheel. It has white interior cabinets. DW and I both liked this when we bought it new. Lately, I have been having some of the vinyl wood covers peeling off. I assume they are vinyl. So far, there have only been a few places. None of the doors have the problem, just some cabinet wood pieces around in different spots. I would like to hear from who has had this problem and come up with a solution they were happy with. The only solutions that I can see is to pull the vinyl off and paint the wood or try to re-glue the vinyl down with something like contact cement.

Thanks for any help.

We had an 07 Outback Sidney that did the same thing. It seems like the vinyl cover and the substrate cabinet expand and contract at different rates. The white sheet pops off. I never did figure out how to fix it.

The trailer also leaked like a sieve. Around the bathroom skylight. Around the right bedroom window. Around the outside kitchen (when closed).

We traded it for the Titanium after two years of patching.

Allworth. Your last comment about the leaking caught my eye. Since I've had this trailer, I have probably lived in to 16-18 months including two summer in Yellowstone (4 months each summer). I have probably redone every hole in the roof. This is my first RV and I just thought this was normal, expecially if it was in a lot of snow. Every time I took up a leaking sky light or other hole, I have put new butl tape under and put eternabond over. After fighting this problem for about three years, I finally got it to where I have not had a leak now for about 2-3 years. I don't know how bad this problem is on other RVs, but I agree with you, it's a real problem on these.

  • I had this happen in a couple of places on my rig.
I used my wifes iron and a very damp wash cloth.
Then I laid the washcloth on the area for a few minutes so that it became moist.
I then press the iron down on the area briefly in hopes of reactivating the glue.
It seemed to work pretty well.
I was basically ironing the material back onto the particle board.
    It's not perfect but acceptable.
I would caution you that you can melt this "contact paper" if you are not careful.
Try a little spot and experiment on how long you can apply heat without melting.

    Good luck.

  • 3M makes an aerosol product that you can use but don't know how effective it will be. You would have to tape areas you don't want to glue. Perhaps a tooth pick with wall paper seam glue?
  • I don't have any experience with this problem. But contact cement is not the answer, it goes on too thick and irregular and has to be applied to both sides. Works great for attaching semi rigid items like formica, but will be very visible under thin vinyl. You need a thinner, glue, maybe crazy glue or elmers glue.
