King Pin Stabilizers

I am trying to decide which of the King Pin Stabilizers are highly recommended and why. I have looked at several but not sure what brand is best. I would like to hear from some of you that use them. I have looked at the Ultrafab brand and a couple of others. Any advice from those of you that use them would be great.

  • We used one for a couple years until we got the JT Strongarms installed. They, king pin stabilizers, seem to work okay for the 5th wheels that aren't as high or as long as some, but only okay. If you've got a long heavy 5th wheel/toyhauler then the king pin stabilizers are a waste of money, and you're better off with something like the JT Strongarms.
  • If you read enough posts here about the king pin tripod stabilizers, I don't think you will find that any are "highly recommended", although a few do like them. I used one for a year before installing JT Strongarm struts. Tripod helped a little. JTs are much better. Never used the tripod again.
  • I use the tri-pod type with 5000 lb rating. Stores easily in the front of the pass through by the door so it goes in and out easily and takes only a couple of minutes to set up. A friend of min has the Strongarms but they don't work any better than my tri-pod.

I got this one from Amazon.
  • I have the b&l stabilizer, have been using it for years. Its kind of heavy, its really a pain to take out of and put in the bed of the truck. With that said, I am very happy with the end result of using it. I feel for me it gives all the front stabiling needed. There are people who gave them up and went to the jt strongarm system of stabilizing, and are very happy also.
  • I've used a king pin stabilizer in the past, but in my opinion, a set-up like the JT Strongarms or Steady Fast work best. I prefer the Steady Fast because once you have your trailer set and level, you tighten 3 large wing-nuts and you're done.
