Hmmm...looking at the 4th and 5th photos--if the grease hole is between the bearing and the seal, then the seal is running on the larger diameter and the bearing is running on the smaller diameter. The second photo seems to show that the bearing ID is significantly smaller than the seal ID.
Joegray, sorry that is the seal surface an too badly damaged to be repaired, I would replace the spindle.
