Leaving Trailer Unattended on a Piece of Property

Not the same thing but along the same line. I own farm property that doesn't have a dwelling but there is a pole barn at the end of the lane. I store wagons and such there along with a utility tractor. Some time this past summer neighborhood vandals (kids I think but can't prove) got into the barn and vandalized the tractor, tearing out the wiring and smashing all the gauges. They also stole a 5gal gas can full of diesel fuel I used for starting brush from some of the fence rows we were clearing. I have never found the gas can so I assume they were on an ATV or some other vehicle - 5 gallons of fuel is pretty heavy to carry too far. My only hope is they poured the diesel fuel into the gas tank as I'm sure it would have done considerable damage to a gasoline engine!!! My point is - NEVER leave anything unattended! You never know who or what will take it upon them selves to do mischief or harm in the name of fun.:(

Not quite the same thing, but we just returned from a 7 week trip on our Harley trike towing a little motorcycle tent trailer. We are full timers and left our 5th wheel on our property in a small town in the Midwest. SIL mows for us every couple of weeks but we did not leave a key for the RV with anyone. We turned the water off (water heater too) but left it plugged in and had no issues at all.

Anything with trees is likely to be zoned Forest or Agricultural. If it does not have an existing structure you will not be allowed to build anything permanent. Hoping it will be re-zoned is a risky bet as well. The other issue, of course is road maintenance, often these rural areas have roads that must be maintained by the owners...which usually means no maintenance.

Leave it in a remote location in parts of the Adirondacks, it will, if lucky, only be robbed. If not lucky, it will be trashed and possibly burned to the ground. In today's world, I wont/don't leave anything I wish to keep, including on my property in a very quiet Upstate NY suburbia town

Just leave it unlocked so they won't tear up your door.

Luck of the draw....I parked my toy Hauler on a guys property I had just met, he offered. So I did, I parked my truck and hauler, for almost a year. No one touched it, amazing.

Dirty, weeds, tree sap, but no rodents or break ins.

Because crank/crack heads steal propane cylinders to use for heat source and batteries for acid in making meth

Plus there are radios, TVs, and STUFF that they can sell to buy more meth with

RVs sitting out alone are prime targets for low lifes. Easier to tell IF anybody is around and easy to break into.

Don't leave =anything= in the trailer, including the batteries, if you want to leave it on a remote property. Just my $0.02...

I can't see why a RV on a lot is any more likely to be burglarized than a stick built home. In fact, there's probably less chance since most folks would figure either the owner is poor and doesn't own anything worth stealing, or the owner takes the good stuff with 'em every time they pull out.
