^^^This. The higher living area in the rear allows for taller slides. If I'm understanding your modifications, I don't think that will work.
Going from zero experience with a RV to living in one full time will be a challenge.
Your husband sounds like he really doesn't want to do this and you really do. I'm not a marriage counselor, but I think y'all need to kick around how to resolve that. Getting a RV is stressful enough without one of you being dragged kicking and screaming into the deal.
