Lighting the Pilot Light in an Oven

We had the same issue and use the oven almost every day so the igniter is very helpful. It also made the burners light easier too.

I think this is the igniter we used with the ceramic thing that sparks to the burner that I got at Wal-Mart. Good luck with yours.

DW always has those smaller, about 1 1/2 inch wide candles about 2 inches tall in the cow anyway (condo on wheels) set it in a aluminum pie pan light it place under pilot, when pilot lights (easy to see reflection in shiney pan) keep holding the knob for a few seconds till it stays on then remove pan/candle and place on counter to make trailer smell nice / Or take it outside and blow it out cause that just smells nasty!!!!!!!

I have never had the issue, but I recommend one thing. If you are trying to light the pilot and have not used the stove in a while, light one of the burners first and let it run for a minute. Then go light the pilot, it will save you time getting all of the lines purged.

That has became an option, at least on our unit. The alternative is 3 drawers and just the cooktop.

We use the oven to store pans. Never use the thing and it's a waste of space, as far as I'm concerned. It would be nice if the we had the choice of having an oven or another cupboard. Just have a cook top and that's it. The microwave does a great job heating up precooked meals and the BBQ works just fine,for us. But that's the way we do it. :)

Our old Jayco was a bear to get the pilot light lit but our new one, 26.5 HT RLS is much easier, although we still have to reach to the back of the over to light it. We use one of those long "match" lighters and it works like a charm. Reach back to the pilot hole, push in the button and, it lights. Hold in the button a bit and let go and it still stays lit.

For the last three rv's we have had, the procedure has been the same:
Open oven door
Turn oven control to pilot (don't push knob in)
Light long trigger lighter and place flame on thermocouple
Push oven control in with opposite hand and hold 5-10 seconds
Release oven control and turn to desired temp

This procedure should allow you look at thermocouple while lighting while using "blind" had to push in oven control knob. :-)

For me its all part of the camping experience, wife says,,"you need to light the oven so I can cook dinner", I light it while she makes me a drink... Its a win win situation!!!

Aha, so you can avoid the button by turning the oven temp up. Neat.

To a point, still need to warm the thermocouple enough to think the pilot is lit, not quite instant.
