Lite or Light?
Just starting to shop for a 5th wheel and was wondering what the hidden meaning is behind lite or light models? They seem a little less expensive so I'm guessing there is a quality trade off. TIA for helping.

Actually, I don't think there is any difference, except the association of "Lite" with Lite Beer, .... you know, fewer calories, for an RV ... fewer pounds! - Who wants a "heavy" TT or 5er? So almost everything is "lite" or "light." Puffing.
- Marketing. Pin weight, dry weight and GVWR of the trailer and the capacity of your truck are the important things.
- Lighter means cheaper construction IMHO.
- Cheaply made.
- Lite can mean lighter axles, 4,400 lb with little CCC, smaller hubs/brakes. Moving to 5,200 axles big improvement, brakes, springs, CCC. Take a look at KZ lighter wt FWs.
Jerry - Smaller I-beams, ie 8” instead of 10” which could lead to more flexing of the trailer. The tanks are usually smaller as well.
- Intended for light usage.
- Lite is like Quality in that there is no definition of the term. As a manufacturer I can claim my model is Lite and no one can dispute it. They are hoping that potential clients will define it in a favorable way.
Years ago I was buying motors for our product that had `lifetime' bearings. The courts established 7 years as `lifetime'.
Nice huh? - Don't get hung up on a word, it's all marketing. No rv manufacturer is going to tout their trailers are heavy. The last time that was tried was the Ford Pinto when they touted "road hugging weight".
