Load Range G Tires

I currently have Goodyear G614 tires on our fifth wheel (see signature). This is what came on the trailer when we bought it new in 2013. I am looking at new tires and am trying to understand why the G614 tires (235/85R16) have a diameter of 30.7 inches whereas all other 235/85R16 tires have a diameter of 31.7 inches.

If I switch tire brands I don't know if a 1 inch larger tire will fit in my wheel wells.

Does anyone know why the Goodyear G614 tires have a smaller diameter than every other tire brand? Even the Goodyear Endurance 235/85R16 has a diameter of 31.7 inches. (I have no intention of dropping to an E range tire - the Endurance is just an example).

    Thanks for the replies. I think the size is right - GoodYear has been publishing the same diameter for at last 8 years. Doesn't mean it's right though.

    The Sailun 235/80-16 is an option I am considering.

    If trailer tires are anything like motorcycle tires, there will be a size variance between manufacturers, with the same tire size.

    But if you are considering Sailun tires, they come in a 235/80-16,which is, I believe, the same size as the Goodyear, as well as the 235/85-16.

    You likely have less of an issue above the tire as you may have issues between the 2 tires on each axle.

    On my old camper, I had less than 2" of space between the tires. When I wanted to upgrade them, I had to be very particular about what I replaced them with because I couldn't afford any kind of outer diameter change.

    And yes, I saw a good 1" deviation on load range E tires.

    Most cases 3"s of clearance will work. I would not go to only 2"s, or less though.

    I just ran out and quickly (it is 6 degrees F) measured mine. They are slightly less than 31". I replaced my China Bombs with the G614s and really didn't notice any difference in the stance or clearance in the wheel wells. I'm betting anything will fit in yours.

    One inch more in diameter if that is correct, will only be 1/2" taller. Not a concern at all.
