- 2012OudoorsmanExplorerThe Facebook page is much more active then their website.
By the sounds of it your looking at a used unit however I'll give you my thoughts on our new unit in case your looking at new.
So far so good with our 2018, only real issue was that the awning screws pulled out but was easily fixed with rivits. I feel they did spend some money in other places beside some of the fancy options like mentioned above. So far I'm very happy with it and do look forward to using it however only time will tell. FWIW, I know Someone with the same model just a 17 and he's had quite a number of issues, his latest issue is the outside fiberglass has started cracking by the bedroom slide. His issues do make me nervous however I think it's luck of the draw and some will be fine and others wont. - shepstoneExplorerLuv ours but it's an older model 2011 337rls. Apart from 2 of the cupboard doors and bedroom dresser there is full access to everything with all the slides in. Much less chance of delam with symalite backing on the exterior rather than luan. Large holding tanks with 88 gallon fresh water . AC is a loop system that is very quiet and also has heat pump that's works very well. Had a few minor issues, one of the plumbing fittings leaked but it was fixed fairly easily. Plenty of space for a 34' wide body unit, & has hookup for washer / dryer. Tows very well and much smoother than our other ones. Don't know about the new ones , the company has changed hands several times since ours was made. We had a 2015 Cougar and it was a complete disaster, seems that a good older unit is better than the new units these days.
- Hobo2Explorerwe had one for 4 months. trying out fulltime RVing. Traded it in for a DRV rssa. If we would have bought a 3X we might have kept it but the light is just as it states light on everything. I didn't think it would hold up for us. if you get one put better tires on it.
- Waco_KidExplorerThanks for all the replies, I joined the OR owners forums and posted in the prospective buyers area, but didn't get to much help. I found two 2013 models for sale in Florida, but I still have to sell my coach. I need something durable enough to go back and forth from Florida to Maine every year, and a trip to Alaska in in my plans......Bruce

At the Pittsburg RV show last winter an Open Range 5er on the smaller side really caught my eye. I pissed off the better half by spending a good hour going through it, under it, and over it. Although it looked good at first glance, I found a lot of sloppy assembly. Even more so than my Rockwood. It could of been that one particular unit but it did not impress me much after the once over.
Always makes me wonder =why= the mfrs and dealers put rigs like that in a show. You'd think that they'd fix a lot of that stuff before putting it on public display, but that's just par for the course given what you see on any dealer's lot on any given day.
Lyle - goducks10ExplorerHighland Ridge did a make over for the 2018 models. Not sure whats new but those with older ones may not be up to date on the newer features.
- LantleyNomadI have a 2012 unit That has held up well . No warranty issues. No major problems.
- SailingOnExplorerLook at the Open Range Owners forum.
Our 2016 OR LF297RLS is our 5th RV and the one we've been happiest with. We liked the weight, and the floor plan.
Early years of this model had slide gearbox failures, frustrating but promptly repaired under warranty by OR. We replaced two gearboxes in the first 6 months. In our year and a half and 30,000 miles since OR changed to hardened gear material we've carried a spare, and had no further trouble.
Other than the slide gearbox issue we've had no quality or maintenance issues. The fridge, stovetop, air conditioners work much better than those in our Winnebago. - PenManExplorerCheck out the owner's forum as previously suggested. We have a 2013 Open Range TT that has been very reliable. Only one warranty item, a bad propane regulator which they quickly replaced. We have taken it cross country several times and many, many 500 to 1000 mile trips too. I did change out the junk tires that came on it after about a year. Ours was built before Jayco and later Thor took over the company but the quality of the older models was excellent. I can't offer an opinion on newer models but many friends own them and seem happy. They do have some of the best floor plans on the market in my opinion.
- topjimmyExplorerBeen in a few at RV shows and seen a few in the resorts and was never impressed with them for some reason they never have 6 point auto-level- or Mor-ryde/Trail- Air pin boxes or decent electronics or appliances inside, plain interiors, same build quality and construction they just seem like a "Bare boned" 5er's that are a few years behind everybody else compared to all the other Brands in their price range I never got what people see in them and I can't be the only one I do not see a lot of them in my 6 years of Travels JMHO
