Looking at fivers

I am always amazed at how many different brands of both 5ers and travel trailers there are each time we walk thru an RV park. Keystone has 17 different brand name 5ers and an equal number of TTs plus their toy hauler lines. Forest River has at least that many, and even more when you add their other divisions such as Coachmen, Palomino, etc. Then add in the multitude of other manufacturers such KZ, Heartland, DRV, etc. there must be a hundred different brands. And each brand has multiple floor plans.

However, when you look more closely the majority of them revolve around probably not more than a half dozen or so basic floor plans each modified a little by each manufacturer to be a little different from the competition.

Six slideouts is not that uncommon with the rigs growing in length and interior floor space. And fold out patios, both front and rear, are showing up more and more. But have not seen one yet with a front cap slideout.

We have a CG that we camp at often during the summer. On the way to it there's a home owner that has a 5th wheel parked out front on his property. Not sure when it was made but it has a double overhang up in the front. Instead of just having the normal overhang that is over the trucks bed, there's 2nd one that goes over the cab of the truck.

I haven't seen a front cap slide out either. Years ago, Alpha/See Ya had a cap that raised up I believe to reveal a window under it and now some have placed windows in caps (another thread on this one). Most number of slides seem to ave 3 to 4 with some having 5. Cedar Creek recently came out with a 6 slide front living room 5er. Bedroom is huge. Problem with these types of rigs, it's forcing owners into bigger tow vehicles (duallies to MD, 450's etc). Who would've thought!

Pardon me, but I don't know what the fascination is with the number of slideouts. I see a lot of rigs with 2 small slideouts on one wall of the living area - they provide no more (and often less) living space than one large slideout. As far as I'm concerned, the total square footage in the RV with the slides out is really the name of the game, not the number of slideouts, which just multiply the number of things to go wrong. Is it really a selling feature to have 8, 10 or 20 slideouts???

By the way, our 5th wheel has 4 slideouts - 2 opposing slideouts in the bedroom area and 2 opposing slideouts in the living area.

Probably a Glendale Titanium, no longer made. Don't know of anyone else that did that.

The one with the double overhang sounds like a Titanium

I'd like to see the floor plan for the one that has the slide in the cap. I have never heard of such a thing. I wonder if it was an owner add on/modification.

That looks cool. I wonder when they made them, for how long, and why they quit. It's kind of like our Fuzion 383: it's a great design for 2 people hauling a couple bikes, but they only made them for 2 years.

The Titanium kind of leaves me cold. Not sure how useful the space would be.

Once Glendale went out of business, the front style was then carried by the Bighorn Titanium Edition up until a couple years ago.
