As you may recall I blew a Trail Express tire on my fiver and it caused 3K worth of damage. Rv is repaired and looking good. La Mesa RV in Tucson did an outstanding job repairing the vehicle. I need to replace all 4 of those chinese junk tires before my next trip. In the past I have had great luck with Maxxis tires but I am concerned by the lack of dealers for those tires. Discount Tire can get them but they have to be ordered. They seem to be the only supplier in AZ for Maxxis. My concern is they may be hard to replace on the road. Discount is pushing the new Carlisle and I have heard good things about the new tire. Yes I know it would be better to replace the ST with LT but I do not want to replace rims and tires at this point.
I didn't really have a choice and couldn't wait for DT to get the Maxxis, so I'm running those newer Carlisles. I've dealt with the same DT store for years and feel that I get minimal b.s. from them, so feel reasonably confident in the Carlisles. I watch them like a hawk and bought an infrared thermometer to check them (and hubs) when I stop. I just wish I could talk The Boss into a TPMS, but that's just not in the budget. :-) The Carlisles do have an R speed rating, 106 mph, so they must have changed =something= to be able to give it that. Since I run 60-65 99% of the time, I don't think I should have too many problems short of running over something. This being said, if you can wait, get the Maxxis.

Could you post a picture of the tire and its speed rating branded into the sidewall, known as a "Service Discription"! People seem to be keep posting this about the Carlisle ST tire having a service discription, which would be a first! Here is a link to info on service discriptions.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=35Here is a link to Discount Tire and it list a speed rating of J or 62MPH for the Carlisle tire pictured.

Best practice. Do not exceed 60 mph while towing a trailer.
Most ST trailer tires have a maximum speed rating of 65 mph.
