Maxxis Tire availability

As you may recall I blew a Trail Express tire on my fiver and it caused 3K worth of damage. Rv is repaired and looking good. La Mesa RV in Tucson did an outstanding job repairing the vehicle. I need to replace all 4 of those chinese junk tires before my next trip. In the past I have had great luck with Maxxis tires but I am concerned by the lack of dealers for those tires. Discount Tire can get them but they have to be ordered. They seem to be the only supplier in AZ for Maxxis. My concern is they may be hard to replace on the road. Discount is pushing the new Carlisle and I have heard good things about the new tire. Yes I know it would be better to replace the ST with LT but I do not want to replace rims and tires at this point.

  • go to your local tire dealer and order them there. They will likely have to come from a regional wearhouse and won't be available until the following day but the Maxis are WELL worth waiting a day for. I purchased my last set from a BF Goodrich dealer and that was exactly what they did for me. Very FEW tire dealers other than those associated with the manufacturer and sell only that brand, do not order tires through a local wholesaler who handles MOST brands.
    Good luck / Skip
  • My Maxxis tire dealer doesn't keep the ST8008 in stock any more for several reasons. He instead pushes the Maxxis U-168 Bravo LT commercial line for his trailer customers.

Many tire dealers generally stock what is popular with his customers.
  • Just have them ordered. Carry a spare and don't worry too much.
Deal with issues as they pop up.
  • What concerns you more - lack of dealers carrying Maxxis tires, having to wait on ordering Maxxis tires, or the $3K damage to your trailer?

I went with the Maxxis tires (had to wait 2 days on special order). After 6 yrs of being towed, I had ZERO amount in damage due to blown tires.

IMHO, if you're not going to change to LT's, go with Maxxis. If you have no faith in the china-bombs, why would you want to buy morel of them?
