Model not listed in NADA

Hey guys got a question for ya.
Been looking at a used fifth wheel online. Dealer list it as a 2010 model but that model is not listed for 2010 on NADA. It is listed for the 2009 model year. Now the one the dealer has, from the outside it has the proper graphics for a 2010 model.

I guess my question is how would the value of this particular unit be calculated? And how is this possible that this fifth wheel could be a 2010 model? End of year and use up parts in stock? I'm stumped.

The 5er is a Coachmen Chaparral 322 RLTS. As I type this just came to mind, I think Forest River bought Coachmen in 2010. Maybe that should have something to do with it. Hummmm.......
  • Can you look at the title to see how it is registered? Ours is a 2013 which is reflected on the title but does not show up in the NADA Guide. After the 2013 model year was begun the now defunct company discontinued our model so the few that were built do not show up on the model list for that year. Not a big deal now as it is not for sale but could be a problem when that time comes. Since the company is gone I can't get any backup. The only thing I know to do is try to use another model number in the same length. We'll see.
  • NADA is the National Automobile Dealer's Association located in Kansas City. Their priority is scouring the large national auto auctions and dealerships for sales prices of automobiles and light trucks.

The NADA RV Guide is where they take the original cost of a RV--and they project a 1st year's depreciation. Then they lower their guide price a certain percentage per month.

Because there is no such thing as a RV auction, the NADA RV Guide is essentially a work of fiction. But it's all bank examinors, bankers and credit unions have to substantiate the advance on their RV loans. It may not be right, but it's all they've got. Don't put too much worth on it.
  • Our Lifestyle was built end of 03/14. It's called a '15, but in reality it is a '14. It does have some '15 features in equipment such as a 2000W pure sine inverter and some other minor changes due to end of year production. Not a big deal.
  • Our Cardinal is a 2008. We purchased it new. You will have to look at 2007 brochures and NADA to find the floor plan, but it has the exterior of a 2008. Sometimes this happen during the model change from one year to another.
  • NADA values are so far off that I wouldn't be concerned. See what a comparable model is selling for on the internet and forget NADA.

    B.O.
  • Not unusual. Our previous 2004 Mobile Suites 36RE3 didn't exist according to many sources (including NADA).

  • I had a similar situation one time and emailed NADA and was informed that it is up to each individual manufacturer to supply NADA with all the specifics of each and every model in order for them to publish the info. If a model is not listed, it simply wasn't reported. I guess then it would be up to the consumer, dealer, and bank to make an educated guess based on the info and comparison of similar models.
