Morro Bay trip.

Booked 3 nights in Morro Bay state park in December and we were stoked! Couldn't wait to get there. We got site #2 which runs parallel with the main st and is right across the street from the Marina. You can rent kayaks there eat at the Cafe or take a stroll on a small .7 mile flat trail which leads to a wetlands. The main shopping is a short drive away and is Awesome. This trip we spent more time down on Embarcadero. So many cools shops and eating. We also took the 35 mins drive up to San Simeon to tour the Hearst Castle. We had a fun trip and this time we spent more time dinning and shopping enjoying the Bay side shopping with out the crowds you would find down south.

All loaded up about to jump on the 101 north.

Setup Camp. This CG is at the south end of the Harbor. I thought the sites are a lil close to each other and some sites the trees are over grown. My wife had to push on a few branches to get us in.

Took the boards out for a fun 2 hours session. My sister went on this trip with us so we brough an extra board and my oldest daughter prefers the Kayak.

Sun setting

2nd day we took the 30 or so min drive up to Hearst castle. They have 4 tours and each tour you have to pay for. We did the General tour which went through the living area game room dinning area etc. We also did the Grand room and suites tour which took us all over the place it was Awesome.

Some cool looking statue

Did another Harbor paddle this time we hung out for a bit on this piece of land that you can get to by kayak or paddle boards. Kids found a bunch of sand dollars .

Another sun set pick from the marina where we did the board launch off of Embarcadero.

Random pic somewhere in the castle.

The infamous Morro bay Rock.

Parting shot to head back in and go eat something.

Oh ya we were hanging out on the 2nd largest skateboard. :)

I am so lucky enough to live right here in Morro Bay! My office window looks at the rock!

Sweet! Very nice place to live.
  • LOVE the Central Coast. My uncle lives right above the golf course that wraps around the campground. Lots to do, looks like the weather was good, that's a rarity in June

Morro Bay SP, San Simeon SP, and Montana de Oro SP are wonderful places to spend some time. That area has something for everyone. I cannot wait to go back. Thanks for sharing your trip.

Next time we go we will be staying at Montana De Oro.

Indeed it was a great trip. Normally we got to Jalama this time of year but we skipped it for Morro bay.
