Most likely a 17200lb fiver will put at least 3500lbs on the pin. Add to that a 200lb hitch and 400 lbs for passengers and your at 4100lbs of payload. Too much for a 3/4 ton.
3500 SRW is not a 3/4 ton.
OP.... I had a RV.net Dually crew cab long bed. I HATED it. It literally didn't fit in my parking garage at work... Can't go through car washes, can't see my little utility trailer behind me except on really tight curves. Can only reach over the side of the bed in front of or behind the Dually fenders. (hey, I'm short!) 50% increase in tire cost, 10-30% reduction in fuel economy.
Me personally, I will go out of my way to buy a trailer that works with a short bed SRW.
However, for your needs, you may have to go to a Dually, just depends on how much your trailers pin weight is.
