A dually is not as much of a PITA as a daily driver as I had anticipated. Having the dually give me many more options for campers or trailers.
Ditto. I do not have a crew cab but an extended cab long bed. It is only 9 inches longer the a crew cab with a 6.5 foot bed. I am so happy I have it. I just scaled my fiver yesterday after a 3 night trip with empty tanks and it had a pin of exactly 3400 lbs. The manufacturer advertised 2970. So by the time you add the weight of a hitch, yourself and others, the payload diminishes quickly.
If you know you can keep your loaded pin at 3k or under, a srw will be fine. Otherwise, I'd opt for the drw. Stability is great, too! Good luck. Phillip
