Tinbangertom,
Did you mean to say you bought a 3500 or 2500?
Chevy says the maximum payload is 2950 lbs. for a Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab Standard Bed 4WD Diesel.
The "Maximum payload capacity includes weight of driver, passengers, optional equipment and cargo".
That means at least the weight of all the people + the hitch (~200) + trailer's hitch weight (2200 empty) + cargo.
The trailer's hitch weight will be more than 2200, unless it has no options and you put nothing in it. I guess at least 2700.
Chevy says maximum payload is 4264 lbs for the same truck except in a 3500HD (not a dually).
The 2500 diesel IS rated to pull a 15500 lb. Fifth Wheel (BC 3450TS), but it IS NOT rated to carry the hitch weight of the BC 3450TS plus all the people, hitch, cargo, options etc.
I think you will need more payload capacity. The 3500 SRW appears to be a better choice than a 2500.
