Payload is what will get you. 2800lbs has to include the driver, passengers, hitch, and any gear. With a 2200lbs advertised dry pin weight that leaves 600lbs for people, gear, hitch, and increased pin weight...unless the trailer has zero options and you never load it you will exceed the GVWR and payload.
This isn't all that uncommon on a 2500HD, if it's what you are comfortable with then do it.. just don't exceed the capacity of the rear tires.
