I'm in need of new tires, leaning towards goodyear endurance, but spendy. Also considered carlisle and maxxis. Just wondering why I never hear anyone or read any article about firestone st tires. Any idea why? And what's your opinion on LT tires on a fiver that's only used here and there a few days at a time. They say, opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one, right or wrong. What yours.

I have heard good things about the Endurance tires, too. Sizes are limited. What size are you looking for. That will help others with suggestions and experiences with different brands. I have 17.5 Goodyear G114. Great tires but very expensive. When I replace I'm going with Sailuns.

Many brands of 5th wheels were built with LT tires and did well. My NUWA is an example. The axle rating matched the tires which were Uniroyals when the trailer was built in '04. I changed them in '12 with Michelin LTXs. All of them have done well without issues except for 1 Michelin that was replaced due to a puncture that could not be repaired. My axle weights are under the max rating. We travel 5-8000 miles a year. As long as the tire meets or exceeds the axle rating there are many good LT tires that will work at a reasonable cost, IMO.

Just put Goodyear Endurance tires on my fifth wheel. Had a blow out on the three year old original tires with about 4000 miles on them. It was between Maxxis and the Goodyear. I have had Maxxis in the past and was very happy with them. However the Goodyear Endurance had two extra things going for them. Higher speed rating and stronger side walls. Even being a newer tire only a few years on the market, they have been getting good reviews.My tires are ST225/75R 15, I replaced all five including the spare. I paid $775 at Tires Plus. The same five tires at Discount Tire would have been $739. The discount tire is 65 miles round trip for me so I bought at Tires Plus. The dollar amount for both places was the out the door price tires, mounting & balance, taxes etc

Thats BAD NEWS for my sister in law :B

Third season on the tires on our Cougar... When we get back from this trip new Carlisles are going on. Our local Discount Tires in Hayden ID have the 10 ply for $116 per... Taking off the 8 ply...

We purchased Goodyear Endurance tires this year and are very pleased so far. They have a speed rating of S or 85mph. We don't go close to that speed. We drive between 60-64mph that's comfortable for us. Tara

I run transforce on the back of my F250 and the 10K fifth wheel. Nary a problem out of them. That is my belly button story and I am sticking to it. :W

Speaking of Firestone Transforce HT tires...

I have them on my F250. Good tires for a good price compared to other name brands... BUT... they seem to wear quickly. I have no idea how they would do on a trailer, probably great. Reading reviews of the tires many of them say the same thing - hard to quantify, but the tires seem to wear out faster than many other brands.

Hard to give a recommendation without knowing what size/load range tires are OEM vs what size/load range your wanting.
Firestone hasn't made a ST (special trailer) tire since the late '70s.
The Firestone Transforce HT makes a excellent trailer tire and has been around for 18- 20 years unlike the Endurance that has a couple of years of service. At 3042 lbs capacity the Firestone Transforse HT have worked great in all those years on trailers with 5.2k and 6k axles.
And 16" LT235/85-16 E commercial grade all steel ply carcass Bridgestone R-238 are just like Michelin XPS Ribs.

LT tires on trailers isn't any thing new. Hell we used LT and P tires before the tire industry gave us the infamous ST tire.

For a trailer that is used a few time here and there like you say the Provider ST or Endurance ST or Carlisle HD ST tire should serve you well unless your trailer has 7k-8k axles. Then a 16" load G all steel ply carcass like the Sailun S637 ST @4080 lbs and 4400 lbs, is tops with haulers and RV trailer owners

I had Firestone OEM on a new 1975 Olds Cutlass Salon. Two blow outs on the Atchafalaya Swamp bridge on I-10. No more Firestones. I think that is when they went broke and Bridgestone bought them.

I never had the new Goodyear Endurance, but my Maxxis were great and currently everything (boat, 5th, utility trailer) has the new Carlisle. No issues.
