Need to add a Hitch to my Get-a-long

Truck: 2013 F-350 FX4 CrewCab
5th Wheel: Yet to be determined, but leaning towards a SandPiper 355RE

I prefer the in bed rail mounted hitch due to the rails being able to double as tie down points when need to anchor cargo with tie down straps as required.

I am looking at going with the Curt Q24 hitch which offers a height range adjustment of from 17" up to 19". Weight wise I am sure I am more than safe. But height wise, is this enough adjustment considering past problems presented by the height of the Ford F-350 4x4 Superduty trucks?

I guess I would also gain at a minimum of an additional 1" to 1.5" due to the rails being mounted in the bed as opposed to under the bed.

Anyway from you in the know, does this look like a good choice?

Thanks
  • I would take a hard look at the ANDERSEN UTIMATE Hitch,i think this hitch solves a lot of problems that we associate with chucking etc,This will be my next hitch.

If you can live without the rails cluttering up your bed, I would recommend taking a look at B&W GN/Companion. It is made in America, quiet, highly adjustable, pitch & roll compliant and B&W has great customer service. I wouldn't consider towing with any other 5th wheel hitch. Just my $0.02 USD worth....

I used that setup on my F550 ranch hauler and was very pleased with it. But it was more a matter of the truck came with the B/W hitch so the Companion made since at that time.

Currently the in bed rails is what I prefer to go back to.
