My guess your looking at the raptors dry weight at 14K? The trucks 6200 RAWR sounds kind of low, but what ever. What is your trucks scaled weights loaded full of fuel ready to travel? That means family, and stuff, not empty.

Yeah the Dmax will pull the trailer fine however the 6200 rawr won't carry all the load in the bed from a hitch/stuff in the bed and pin weight from a heavy GN/5th wheel trailer. Just the hitch weight alone is a overload.

250/2500 gas or diesel trucks can carry around 3000-3400 lbs before over loading a tire/wheel or rear spring pack. You have the truck so drop by a CAT scale and weigh front and rear axles.....that way you can do your own exact math instead of guestimating.

Is the trailers 14400 a gvwr or a dry weight ???

Well that Raptor has a GVWR of 17,100#, can the 2011 2500 D/A pull it, sure, but you will need likely need bigger tires (19.5) bags etc.. Will you be happy with with the towing experance not likely!
Want a comfortable towing experance get a dually.

I know others have different opinions, but my opinion is that if your truck needs airbags, you don't have enough truck.

Only way to correctly do it by the numbers is to get weights.
Take truck to a CAT scale, weigh it like you are ready to hook up to the trailer.
Then do simple math.

GVWR-truck weight=how much pin/tongue weight you can carry.
GCWR-truck weight=how much total trailer weight you can tow.

IMO, you need a dually.
My trailer is 17,000lbs loaded with 3400lbs of pin weight and I am at 27,000lbs GCW.

I could give you a step-by-step on how to weigh and calculate the numbers but, as others have said, that trailer is out of class for a 3/4-ton truck. Our fifth wheel is only 14K GVWR but has a 3,100 lb. pin weight. It was too much for our 2013 2500HD D/A from a pin weight point of view and I felt like I was always on the edge of the envelope (i.e. what happens if I blow a rear tire on the truck?). We traded for a DRW truck and the experience is SO much better. If you choose to exceed the capacities of the truck, you not only put yourself in danger, but the rest of us, too.

Truck will be overweight on GVWR, RAWR ....close to max load rating (or over) rear tires

NOPE.....too heavy of a trailer

Open your trucks drivers door and read the 'tire data' info sticker on jamb
It will list max cargo carrying capacity.....not enough to even handle the 3400# dry pin let alone 'other' cargo (passengers/stuff/hitch)

Take truck to a CAT Scale and get it weighed 'camp ready' (you, fuel, passengers, stuff etc)
Add weight of hitch if not already in truck
How much weight is on rear axle..........how much more weight can it carry ?
That is what your 'wet' pin can weigh before being overweight
Figure 22% of a trailers GVWR for wet pin (20% - 25% normal range)




14K MAX GVWR Trailer would be more in line....roughly 3000# wet pin

You fail to mention payload capacity of your truck. Thats probably the most important thing to consider imo...

I owned almost the same truck back then. That trucks max payload is well under 3000lbs. Just your trailer pin alone is over the payload of your truck(+600lbs over?), even when your truck is empty.

Eeesh, agree with the others, nope. Our 5er is lighter than that and we wouldn't have been comfortable towing it with a non-dually.

That being said, our neighbor pulls a Fuzion 371 , which is 13,500ish shipping weight, with a 2500 RAM. We think he's crazy, and he said it's not the most pleasant experience but it gets the job done. He also routinely pulls heavy trailers for work, so maybe that's why he's more comfortable with it. Just not sure why you'd want to stress yourself out while vacationing.

Don't worry the F450 guys think The F350 are crazy..
