Apr 23, 2014I just completed replacing all four bearings on my trailer. It is 10 years old and has about 50000 miles. The bearings looked and felt good but one had a damaged seal and two more were seeping grease. I found the Dexter bearings online for $122 each and had a machine shop press them out/in for $10 each. Drums and brakes were good.
I had talked to Dexter prior to starting the job and was told that 10 years old was not a reason to replace the bearings if there no other issues. That may be true but I feel better with new bearings going forward. And they were leaky.
Also, I used a 2 &7/16 socket to remove/install the nut and the torque is 145-155 ft.lbs.
