After having reservations about buying parts before taking a look at the condition of the originals first it is looking like the right decision was made.Bearings of the first wheel removed are fine but the second was another story. No evidence of failure other than a small amount of leakage. However once the drum was off the bearing was found to be loose & wobbly inside.That is one wheel getting a new drum & bearing that was ordered.

I replaced two bearing sets. With the drum off there should be bearing movement. The 150lb nut torque tightens the bearings up against the inner races.

I replaced two of the bearing about a year ago and on Monday I got the other bearing. I will replace the other two soon.In Dec. 2009 the trailer had 61025 miles on it. I quit keeping a log at that time so we don't know how many miles it has now.

One good thing about this experience is in a few days I will have the necessary tools to do a remote change if necessary. I will have a spare drum with bearing mounted all ready to go.I am doing the job in a boatyard but even here I had to run out to borrow the 36mm spindle nut. Dexter, in their wisdom, is metric so my ample supply of everything else does not contain any 19mm sockets or ring spanners for the brake plates which are also being done.Sheesh! Expensive week. Fresh rubber going on too. As a wheel comes off it is run over to the local garage to be changed while I do the brake & drum side of things.

How many miles will you say are on those nev-r -lubes?

Guesstimate, about 80,000 miles.
