The undercarriage frame is steel which is what you would want in a fifth wheel. An aluminum frame would have lots more flex and end up being a problem. The only 2 good things about aluminum is it's light and it won't rust. But it's also brittle and in an atmosphere like where we are from south of Houston I have seen holes pitted completely through aluminum.
