New FW

Can you get a better deal buying dealer stock or order from the manufacture? I know cars I seem to do better ordering. I know it all relative to how each person feels about the deal.
  • I felt like I got a better deal ordering because I could pit 5 dealers against each other for the exact same unit. Every option was the same. If it was a long distance "wholesaler", I made sure my comparison included delivery costs- basically, I was looking at the "out the door"/"final" price and comparing them.

2nd closest local guy one. He wasn't the cheapest, but I felt I'd be treated the best by him. Turns out he was a big fat zero when it came to service and warranty work. :( Wish I would have saved the grand and bought from a wholesaler.

In my opinion, the dealer has almost as much incentive to make an order work. They had zero effort invested in the "sale". I literally emailed each and followed it with a phone call. By the end of the week, I was ready to pick my seller.
  • When I special ordered and purchased Duchman Victory Lane 5th Wheel back in 2007, I did it thru National Travelers RV Center in Conway, Arkansas.

No pressure, and very informative. It was a very nice experience. The owner Chris Block was very informative in every question that I had from the trailer thru to hitch pin and hitch combinations.

I had to wait 10 weeks for it to be built, but saved over $20K from MSRP thru them.

I had the option of picking it up at their facility or having it delivered. It worked out best for me to pick it up, and spend much of the day going over every detail of the rig before setting out on the road with it back to Arizona.
Call them and see what you think.
  • We couldn't find what we wanted on the lot.......could find the right floorplan/mfg. etc. but it had stuff we didn't want and didn't have stuff we wanted.

So we ordered it the way we wanted it........and it wasn't any more than what was sitting on the lot.

Ordered the last 2 trucks......same results.

For me....it has worked out better ordering.

Like buying a car. You can order a trailer exactly the way you want it but you will generally pay a higher price than choosing one off the lot. If the manufacture isn't the one putting those G rated Goodyears on then the dealer is and charging you for them. If thats the case it would be cheaper to swap them out yourself because the dealer isn't going to credit you much for the cheaper stock tires. I did this very thing with my new trailer. Bought the trailer then took off the Blow Master tires and put on XPS Ribs cheaper than if I had the dealer do so. Sold the cheap stock tires on Craigslist.
