Interesting as I have some 3 month old Michelin Defenders, 275/70x18, and they didn't have nor currently don't have any waviness. I have had other brands, Yokohamas, Continentals and Kumhos on other pick ups that have had waviness that lasted as long as the tires were on the truck but they were never a problem. The only negatives that I've seen with that tire is some diesel MPG loss (1-2 mpg) and big balance weights. As far as the MPG loss - after having a F350 w/V10, not a big deal. Balance weights - also not a big deal as long as they don't get 'thrown' off but they look like c##p.
Waviness - if you still have Tow Max tire bombs on your 5er, take a look at those wavy sidewalls if you need a laugh. I think I got sea sick
