New Truck to Pull a Landmark??

Drive, try each one out. Pick what YOU like best and can get the best deal on. Serious question for you, why a 450/4500? The current crop of 350/3500s should be more than up to the task of hauling all but the largest trailers.

It's 41 feet and heavy. I rode in a Dodge the other week and the truck actually came equipped with a Jake Brake. It is straining my current 05 F350 so I was thinking of getting a F450 if I go with the Ford.

If you're made of money get a Freightliner Sportchassis M2 MDT. It's real nice to tow with a truck that weighs 6 tons. If you want control, comfort and safety, the heavier the better. If you mainly want towing power, the new pickups are fine for that.

New, properly equipped Rams can be rated up to 30,000 pounds.

The F450 has a better turning radius than the F350. The F450 also uses commercial tires so will cost more at replacement. Same engine and tranny, different axles. Check insurance on F450 as some states as they may not be considered personal use.

Any of the 1 ton DRW will safely tow that 5th wheel. Test drive them all. They're different in their own way but all have the power and handling to tow your 5th wheel.

Like others have said, any new of the new 350/3500 duallies will be more than capable of pulling the LM. No need to go w/ 450/4500 chassis.

The RAM 3500 duallies from the last couple of years are rated to tow just as much as the M2 Freightliners, 30,000 lbs. The M2 may have an edge in payload, but I don't think that's an issue with your FW. I'm no Dodge fan, but were I to consider full-timing in a rig like yours, I'd =seriously= consider the RAM.

Your GVWR is 16250 - pretty light for a 41' rig. That's about what my old 37' toy hauler weighed and it was fine with my 2004 CTD Ram. My current 5er is 19000 and it definitely wasn't OK with the 2004 Ram. In 2011 the Silverado 3500HD was the only one spec'd for that weight so I bought that, but I believe all the big 3 can handle 16250 now.

Buy a dually - you'll thank me.
