As far as bumper pull, ive never pulled a unit before and with a similar truck pulled with 0 problems over 400 miles home at all with the Carbon. Put an equalizer 14k sway on it, 5th hitch might be a lot simpler sway bars kind of a pain in the arse. Im not saying you should get a bumper or a Carbon so please dont take it that way, but it is an option if you are worried about pin weight. Airbags dont change a weight rating on a truck, tires, or axle and I honestly feel I have more truck than I need for the Carbon which after reading a lot seems to be better than many that are on the edge or over. I was also surprised how high the interior is.
Puma ramp door opening is a bit lower than most if you have something with ROPS that might be an issue, it listed at 7'. Bottom bed does not convert into a sofa which to me was a big deal...I like the idea of kids in there eating, making messes etc while sitting on that couch over the rubber floor for easy clean up. Also the solid door might not be great if you want to close off at all and keep an eye on kids. I have not looked at this particular model, but other Pumas we looked at seemed built ok, furniture was a little weak. I agree once you put options on the PUMA it gets up there pretty quick.
We considered some torque units as well in our search, they just ended up getting too high in price with some options, so it seemed to be tough to find the middle ground between the two.
If you have to trade trucks there is a loss, plus some states you may pay substantially more in registration and insurance costs if you go to a 1 ton.
