Gel coat covered fiberglass/plywood is heavier, more expensive harder to repair but resists dents and scratches, better looking and on most higher end trailers end motorhomes. Leaks can cause de lamination. Aluminum is cheaper, easier to repair, easy to scratch or dent, lighter and usually on lower end units. Leaks you probably won't know about till the floor drops out....
